About Photography

A photo of the designer lining up the camera. Photography has been a hobby of mine since mid to late 2022. I never truly realized my passion for it until I got to hold a proper camera in my hands, where I found I had a knack for it.

Over time, I have improved in my ability to adjust the settings on my camera, gained new pieces of equipment to take better photos, and improved my eye for good shots.

The Moon

A detailed photo of the Moon during the day
The Moon is my favourite, but also most difficult, target to photograph. Requiring a long lens and steady hands to shoot correctly, she evaded me for quite some time until I got my hands on a tripod.

Jumping from my phone, to a 135mm lens, then to a 300mm lens, and finally to an 800mm lens, my Moon shots have always been my pride and joy. I strive to get larger lenses for even closer photos.

The Sky

A photo of the sky reflected in the water. The Sky is my easiest and most common target to photograph. Many of the shots in my personal photo album were taken of the sky.

Most of my sky photos were taken using my phone. Taking a photo of the sky is usually pretty spontaneous. I see something I like, and snap a photo. I usually don't have my good camera on me, so the phone works fine. I can still make edits if needed.
Overall appeal for the photos will be based on skill with having a good eye for taking photos, rather than skill with adjusting settings and having good equipment.

Nature

A Blue Heron with a fish in its mouth. Nature is the broadest category out of the three. It involves scenic photos such as waterfalls, but also shots of animals I have encountered in the wild throughout my career.

My proper camera is crucial for many animal shots, as I am unable to get close enough with my phone for a clear photo.

Provincial and State parks are amazing places, where many of my nature shots come from. I have seen some truly unique things during my travels.
